Group of Seventy Seven
Group of Seventy Seven(G77), international organization, established in 1967 to promote economic cooperation and greater influence in world affairs among developing countries. Originally consisting of 77 countries, in 1998 the organization had 133 member nations, primarily in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The G77 has been a strong voice for an increased Third-WorldThird World,
the technologically less advanced, or developing, nations of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, generally characterized as poor, having economies distorted by their dependence on the export of primary products to the developed countries in return for finished products.
