Halston (b. Roy Halston Frowick)

(1932–90) fashion designer; born in Des Moines, Iowa. He was chief custom milliner for Bergdorf Goodman (1959–68) before heading his own fashion house (1968–84). He dressed many socialites and entertainers in the trademark understated designs that earned him four Coty Awards.
