Helix nebula

(hee -liks) (NGC 7293) A planetary nebula lying in the southern hemisphere about 140 parsecs away in the direction of Aquarius. It has the largest apparent diameter (0°.2) of any planetary nebula but at magnitude 6.5 is too faint to be seen with the naked eye.

A planetary nebula in Aquarius about 140 parsecs (2.7 × 1015 miles or 4.3 × 1015 kilometers) distant that has a high helium abundance and the largest known diameter of any planetary nebula.

The real gem in Aquarius though is NGC 7293, the Helix nebula. At a distance of around 600 light years the Helix is the closest planetary nebula to us and covers an area on the sky over half that of the full Moon, which equates to a true diameter of around 1.5 light years.
Washington, July 21 (ANI): A University of Missouri professor has identified new features in the material that is being ejected from the dying star Helix Nebula, as previously unseen comet-shaped knots.
