Hildebrandt, Lucas von

(1668–1745)
Leading Austrian architect; pupil of Fontana and admirer of Guarini. His Baroque facades are plain, while the interiors are dramatic and richly decorated. Works include the Residenz (illus.), Wurzburg, Germany, and the Belvedere (illus.), Vienna, Austria (1724).
