Hoeryong

 

a city in the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, in the province of Hamyong-pukto. Hoeryong has a railroad station. The city’s industries include sawmilling and the manufacture of wood products, mining equipment, and agricultural machinery. Hoeryong also has plants for the processing of foodstuffs, such as sugar and fruits. Cobalt ore and brown coal are mined near the city.
