Hofei

 

a city in East China and the capital of Anhwei Province. Population, 350,000 (1971). Hofei is a transportation junction. The city has ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy and manufactures machinery, chemical products, leather goods, food products, and cotton. Hofei has a university.
