Hoffman, Frances Burrall, Jr.

(1884–1980)
American architect, graduate of Harvard, who trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Worked with Carrere and Hastings before setting up office with Harvey Creighton Ingalls. He designed Viscaya (1916), a winter home for industrialist John Deering, on Biscayne Bay near Miami. It was designed to look as if it had been there for 300 years.
