Hulman, (Anton, Jr.) Tony

(1901–77) auto racing executive; born in Terre Haute, Ind. In 1945 he purchased the Indianapolis 500 Speedway, and, after extensive renovations to the facility, he promoted the annual 500-mile race into the largest sporting event in the world.
