IFAC (2014) regulates the operations of international accounting activities through the following independent standard-setting boards: International Auditor and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) which sets International Standards on Auditing (ISAs) for auditing; International Accounting Education Standards Board (IAESB) which develops International Education Standards (IESs) for accounting education; International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (IESBA) which promotes professional accountants with the international Code of Ethics; and International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) which establishes International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSASs) for public sector accounting.
"Improving public sector financial management and providing for better decision making requires politicians to look beyond their next term in office, and to act in the public's -- and the next generation's -- interests," said IFAC Chief Executive Officer Fayezul Choudhury.
