interleukin-13

[‚in·tər¦lük·ən ′thər‚tēn]
(immunology)
A cytokine produced by activated T lymphocytes that inhibits inflammatory cytokine production induced by bacterial endotoxin and stimulates gamma-interferon production by natural killer cells, enhancing the effect of interleukin-2. Abbreviated IL-13.

The results indicated that the basic values in male offspring were slightly different from those in female offspring, including the number of eosinophils and the IL-4 level, but the fold changes were equal in the two sexes, suggesting no sex-related significant difference in the inflammatory responses and the expression of the type 2 cytokines IL-4 and IL-13 and the type 1 cytokine.
IL-5 is associated with eosinophil proliferation, differentiation, survival, recruitment, and activation (34) and IL-13 is involved in the secretion of various proinflammatory factors.
Allergic inflammation induced by allergen inhalation is associated with high levels of Th2 cytokines IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 and elevated numbers of eosinophils in the BALF [21].
6] cells/well) differentiated by the above methods were cultured with IL-4 (25 ng/ml) and IL-13 (25 ng/ml) for 24 h in a 60mm culture dish, and the differentiated M2 macrophages were then washed twice with Dulbecco's phosphate buffered saline (PBS) (pH 7.
Asi, niveles elevados de IL-5 en tejido bronquial causan eosinofilia en las vias aereas, mientras que un aumento de IL-4 e IL-13 inducen metaplasia de celulas caliciformes e hiperreactividad (Ishmael, 2011).
beta]-actin, IL-17, IL-4 and IL-13 and IL-6, TGF[beta] primers were obtained from Sangon Company Primer express software (primer 5) was used to design primers from published cDNA sequences.

Newer therapies in asthma include omalizumab (an anti-IgE antibody), mepolizumab (an anti-IL5 monoclonal antibody), lebrikizumab (an IL-13 antibody) and the most recently studied dupilumab (a subcutaneously administered antibody to the alpha subunit of the IL-4 receptor which inhibits signalling by both IL-4 and IL-13).
COBN-treated chickens had increased CXCLi2, IL-13, and IFN-[gamma] mRNAs compared with controls.
The M2 macrophages are induced by IL-4 and/or IL-13 and identified by expression of the hemoglobin scavenger receptor CD163, the IL-1RII decoy receptor, mannose receptors, and increased IL-10, CCl-18, and CCl-22 production, and display a phenotype associated with immunoregulation, tumor promotion and tissue remodeling, fibrosis, and angiogenesis.
Secretion of IL-10 and IL-13 reached their peak levels after 48 hours, maintaining a greater response in low than in high responders (Figure 1).
Higher stress was also linked with an increased IL-13 response to dust mite antigen, which has been associated with allergic sensitization in older children.
