Iagotin

 

a city (since 1957) and the administrative center of Iagotin Raion, Kiev Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Situated on the Supoi River, a tributary of the Dnieper. Railroad station on the Kiev-Romodan line, 115 km southeast of Kiev. Population, 19,000 (1974). Iagotin has an experimental machinery plant, a lightweight structural components factory, a butter factory, a food products factory, two sugar factories, a mixed-feed plant, and a sugar-beet combine; it also has a poultry farm and a sovkhoz for raising berries and other fruits. A museum of local lore is located in Iagotin.
