Size: 654,000 acres.
Location:Los Angeles County, north of the city of Los Angeles. Accessible by CA 2 and 39.
Facilities:Three visitor centers, 54 campgrounds, picnic sites, shooting range, hiking and bridle trails (557 miles), ORV trails (364 miles), open ORV areas (364 acres).
Activities:Camping, fishing, boating, swimming, canoeing, water-skiing, jet skiing, hiking, backpacking, hunting, target shooting, horseback riding, ORV riding, cross-country and downhill skiing.
Special Features:Steep, rugged mountains adjoining the Los Angeles metropolitan area. Points of interest include Mount Baldy, San Gabriel Wilderness, Big Santa Anita Canyon, Pyramid Lake, and Castaic Lake.
