Among migrants from moderate- to very high-incidence countries, IGRA screening coupled with postarrival rifampin treatment was the optimal intervention strategy in deterministic analysis.
[2] In a study which has investigated the frequency of LTBI in HCWs, 469 cases were screened and 129 HCWs had a positive Interferon.Gamma Release Assays (IGRAs).
Lung cancer may cause an autoimmune disorder that results in frequent positive IGRA results (37) ; therefore, one should be very careful when interpreting IGRA positive results from lung cancer patients.
Crofts said this type of high-end destination is possible only because of the gaming allowed in IGRA. Before IGRA, there were a lot of questions about what types of bingo games were legal.
The discordances may also be related to the fact that the tests measure different immune responses and that the IGRA tests detect more recent infections, which theoretically are those with greatest risk of progression to active TB (32).
A negative IGRA may be a convenient 'rule-out' test for TB if the diagnostic sensitivity of the assay is sufficiently high, for example, nearly 95%.[19] In our study, the sensitivity (89.66%) and NPV (79.11%) of the T-SPOT.TBtest suggest that T-SPOT.TBdoes not have good rule-out value for active TB in high TB-burden settings, like China.
In February 2008, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Tuberculosis Epidemiologic Studies Consortium (TBESC) began an IGRA comparative study (Task Order 18, TO18) in healthcare workers (HCWs) whereby 2600 HCWs at 4 sites were enrolled in serial phlebotomy studies.
Screening methods in Sweden have by tradition differed regionally, some of which have used chest X-ray (CXR) for screening and some tuberculin skin test (TST) or IGRA test [14].
The QuantiFERON-TB Gold test is an interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) that measures the release of interferon-gamma after in vitro stimulation by Mycobacterium tuberculosis antigens using ELISA [12].
Although it is recommended that TST or interferon-y release assay (IGRA) is performed in patients prior to the use of biologics [10], false-negative results in TST or IGRA may occasionally be observed in immunosuppressed patients treated with biologics, corticosteroids, or DMARDs.
* Two types of testing are available for TB screening: the TB skin test (TST) and the interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA).
[9] Neither the tuberculin skin test nor the interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) meets this minimum standard.
