Ilfov

 

a district in southern Rumania, in the Danube basin. Area, 8,200 sq km. In 1970 the population was 797,300, not including Bucharest, which is the administrative center of the district and forms a separate administrative unit. The district is on the Walachian Plain.

Ilfov District has intensive agriculture, specializing mainly in supplying the capital with food and agricultural raw materials; suburban agriculture, such as truck farming, horticulture, and dairy animal husbandry; and large plantings of grain crops (wheat, corn, barley, and rice), sugar beets, and sunflowers.

Under these conditions, in the year 2016, only 2 regions in Romania have a GDP per capita that exceeds the European average of 75%: Bucharest and Ilfov County, being the only areas in the country that are not considered underdeveloped.
By comparison to other regions of the country, Bucharest-Ilfov region is nonconforming through including in its area the surface of the capital city, Bucharest, framed in Ilfov county. GDP per capita in Bucharest-Ilfov region almost doubled in the period 2005-2010, with an increase of about 96% compared to 2005 and exceeding 100% the national level registered (Bucharest-Ilfov Regional Development Agency, 2013).

Bucuresti region includes Bucuresti City and Ilfov county. In Bucuresti City and Ilfov county petroleum pollution events were very small and caused by discharge of petroleum products in the sewage network.
In the first stage, Bucharest will be merged with the Ilfov county, then, in the second phase would bring together a large number of towns from neighboring counties, and in the third stage would bring together administrative territory up to the Danube.
The ceremony for the inauguration of the works took place in the presence of Johannes Hahn, European commissioner for regional policy, Romanian prime minister Victor Ponta, Remus Pricopie, minister of national education, Titus Corlatean, minister of foreign affairs, Eugen Teodorovici, minister of European funds, Sorin Oprescu, Bucharest mayor, Marian Petrache, president of the Ilfov county council, representatives of the R&D institutes and others.Said Commissioner Hahn, "ELI is hugely significant, not just for Romania, but for all of Europe.
