Indo-Mediterranean Race

 

one of the southern branches of the large Europoid (Caucasoid) race. The group is distinguished by dark pigmentation of hair and eyes, dark complexion, wavy hair, narrow face, straight or protuberant nose, dolichocephalism or mesaticephalism, and moderate development of the tertiary hair cover. The Indo-Mediterranean race is widespread in southern Europe, northern Africa, Arabia, Iraq, southern Iran, and northern India. The race has local variants.
