In Salah

 

an oasis in Algeria, in the central part of Algerian Sahara, on the trans-Sahara automobile road from Laghouat to Zinder. Population approximately 6,000 in 1966. The oasis is a settlement and trade and crafts center. The date palm is cultivated there with an artesian water supply. Southwest of In Salah is Debel-Berga, a source of natural gas deposits.
