In 1977, the General Assembly of the United Nations declared November 29 International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On December 1, 2000, the Assembly reaffirmed the U.N.'s responsibility to work towards the peaceful creation of a Palestinian homeland and lauded those countries that observed the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

The network spokesman asserted that Hill is no longer under contract.
The support for the French gesture was demonstrated by Counsellor Bader Al-Munayekh, Kuwait's Deputy Permanent Representative at the United Nations, addressing a UN General Assembly session on "the situation in Palestine." The debate coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people, observed by the UN on, or around, November 29, annually.
The International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People is observed by the United Nations on November 29 each year, in accordance with the General Assembly resolution 181 approved on November 29, 1947.
Meanwhile, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People today takes place at "a time of turmoil, trouble and torment".
More than 40 years ago, the General Assembly established an International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People to remind us of our collective, unfinished task of resolving the question of Palestine.
"This has deepened the feelings of oppression amongst the Palestinian people, all amid daily attempts to hide their identity and to destroy their legitimate rights," Aoun said marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. "The declaration of Al-Quds as the capital of Israel, and the transfer of some embassies to it against the will of the international community, the passing of the Jewish nation-state law, and the blocking of UNRWA aid signify a collective effort to defeat resolution #194 and point to attempts to rid it of its content," Aoun said.
