(2) (IMDb) (Internet Movie Database) A database of video content from the IMDb subsidiary of Amazon. IMDb includes the plots, reviews, cast biographies and other information about more than six million movies, TV shows and video games. When introduced in 1990, IMDb was a Usenet group that migrated to the Web in 1993. In 1998, it was acquired by Amazon. See Usenet.
In early 2019, a free streaming service was launched in the U.S. Paid for by ads, the original name of the service was Freedive, which later became IMDb TV.
