(electromagnetism)

Irradiance

The amount or density of light energy incident on a surface.

Irradiance

(at a point of a surface), the ratio of the radiant flux incident upon a small surface element containing the point being considered to the area of the surface element. In meteorology and actinometry, this quantity is also called radiation intensity. Units of irradiance are watts per square meter and calories per square centimeter per minute.

irradiance

The density of the luminous flux which is incident on a surface.

The positive correlation between relative sunshine duration and relative global irradiance is significantly lower than the one between relative direct irradiance and relative sunshine duration.
The spectroradiometer BIC-2104 allows measuring the downwelling irradiance in three channels centred at 412, 555, and 665 nm (in [micro]mol [m.
For irradiance measurements with a broadband UV meter, the irradiance does not depend on wavelength and the equation becomes:

As shown in Figure 3, the hourly mean irradiance incident on the solar C/R absorber area varied from 641.
Note that the absolute spectral irradiance is strongly dependent on atmospheric conditions, time of day, and location, which we do not expect to duplicate perfectly; we intend for this experiment to be performed without regard to time of day or location, and with only regard for the presence of clouds.
In addition to solar irradiance variations, the temperature also affects the voltage-current relationship in PV cells.
