Iugra Strait

 

(Iugorskii Shar), a strait between Vaigach Island and the continent of Eurasia. Iugra Strait joins the southern parts of the Barents and Kara seas. It is 39 km long, from 2.5 to 12 km wide, and up to 36 m deep. It has steep shores. The strait is covered with ice for most of the year.
