Peyt, Jacob


Died 1328. Flemish peasant who was a leader of the peasant and plebeian uprising of 1323-28 in Flanders. Peyt was treacherously murdered, and the uprising was suppressed after the decisive battle that took place on Aug. 23, 1328, near Cassel.
