Java 2

The second version of Java which added numerous enhancements, including the Swing GUI library, accessibility and 2D libraries, drag and drop capabilities, support for audio files and digital certificates as well as enhanced security tools. Java 2 also provided a JIT compiler and a CORBA ORB. The Java 2 nomenclature was later dropped; for example, the J2EE Enterprise Edition became Java EE. See Java EE, Java SE, Java ME and Swing.
