Jewell Cemetery State Historic Site


Location:In southern Columbia, off Highway 163, in Boone County.
Special Features:This is the burial place of Governor Charles Hardin, who served from 1875-1877, and descendants of George Jewell. The most well known member of the Jewell family buried in the cemetery is William Jewell, who died while establishing a college in Liberty, Missouri, that bears his name.
