(also Jalandhar), a city in northwestern India in Punjab State between the Beas and Sutlej rivers. Population, 296,100 (1971). Situated on an important historical route to India from Asia Minor and Middle Asia, Jullundur is a trade and transportation center. It is the site of textile, leather, food-processing, and, metalworking industries. Sporting goods, toys, and handicrafts are also produced.
