Kaspiiskii

 

(until 1944, Lagan’), a city (since 1963) and center of Kaspiiskii Raion, Kalmyk ASSR, located 9 km from the Caspian Sea and 40 km east of the Ulan-Kholl railroad station (on the Astrakhan’-Kizliar line), with which it is connected by highway.

Kaspiiskii has a meat-packing combine, fish-processing and machine-building plants, a brickyard, and a garment factory. It also has a sovkhoz raising fur-bearing animals.
