Kaushany

Kaushany

 

a city (since 1965); center of Kaushany Raion, Moldavian SSR, 22 km south of the city of Bendery and 5 km from the Kaushany railroad station. The city is located in the broad valley of the Botna River. Population, 13, 000 (1970). There is a cannery and sovkhoz-plant in the city. The Uspenie Church, with paintings from the 18th century that are the work of local craftsmen, is a monument of early 18th-century architecture.
