Kedar (kē`dər), powerful nomadic tribe, who lived in N Arabia, E of Palestine. Their name appears often in the Bible, where it is identified as meaning the descendants of the second son of Ishmael.

which were doomed to destruction according to Isaiah's prophecy because of their godlessness, pompousness, and bloodthirstiness (Isa.
Isaiah addresses the Dedanites in the second person, but the Kedarites
are referred to only in the third; thus the oracle was directed to the former.
