Kelly, Grace (Patricia)

(1928–82) film actress; born in Philadelphia. A coolly elegant beauty, she studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, then appeared on Broadway and television. Her short but highly successful film career began in Fourteen Hours (1951). She received an Academy Award for The Country Girl (1954). She retired in 1956, when she married Prince Rainier III, becoming Princess Grace of Monaco. She died in an automobile accident.
