Kenai Peninsula
(kē`nī), S Alaska, jutting c.150 mi (240 km) into the Gulf of Alaska, between Prince William Sound and Cook Inlet. The Kenai Mts., c.7,000 ft (2,130 m) high, occupy most of the peninsula. The coastal climate is mild, with abundant rainfall and a growing season adequate for many crops. There are forest, mineral, and fishing resources in the east and, in the western section, good farmland. The Alaska RR crosses the peninsula from Seward. On the south coast of the peninsula is Kenai Fjords National ParkKenai Fjords National Park,669,983 acres (271,248 hectares), S Alaska.
