Khachmas

 

a city (since 1938) and the administrative center of Khachmas Raion, Azerbaijan SSR. Located on the Kudialchai River, which empties into the Caspian Sea. Railroad station on the Gudermes-Baku line, 163 km northwest of Baku. Population, 24,000 (1974). The city has a canning combine and a brewery. Rugs are made in Khachmas.
