The mean flow rate is about 1,370 cu m per sec. The river is frozen from late September or early October until late May or early June. The chief left tributaries are the Boiarka and Maimecha rivers; the principal right tributary is the Boganida. The river is navigable and abounds in fish (muksun, cisco, nelma).
