Khinalugtsy

 

(self-designation, Kettiturdur), a small ethnic group living in northeastern Azerbaijan, in the village of Khinalug (Khynalyg), Kuba Raion. Its spoken language is Khinalug, which belongs to the Dagestan group of languages, and its literary language is Azerbaijani. Religious Khinalugtsy are Sunnite Muslims. The chief occupations of the people are livestock raising and agriculture. The Khinalugtsy are being assimilated by the Azerbaijanis.
