Khodzheili

 

a city (since 1926) under republic (ASSR) jurisdiction and administrative center of Khodzheili Raion, Kara-Kalpak ASSR. Population, 40,000 (1974). Khodzheili has a railroad station on the Chardzhou-Makat line and is located 11 km from a wharf on the left bank of the Amu Darya.

Industrial enterprises in Khodzheili include a cotton-ginning plant, a creamery, a milk plant, a shipyard, a brickyard, a meatpacking plant, a flour mill, and factories for the manufacture of carpets and clothing. The city has a pedagogical school.
