Kilogram-Force(redirected from Kilograms-force)
a unit of force in the mks system. Its abbreviated designations are as follows: Russian, kgs or kG; international, kgf or kG. A kilogram-force is equal to the force that imparts an acceleration of 9.80665 m/sec2 to a mass equal to that of the International Prototype Kilogram. An acceleration of 9.80665 m/sec2 is the standard acceleration of free fall as adopted by the Third General Conference of Weights and Measures in 1901. A kilogram-force is equal to 9.80665 newtons (N). In several European countries the designation “kilopond” for the kilogram-force (abbreviated kp) has been officially accepted.
