Kirkcudbright

(kûrko͞o`brē), town (1991 pop. 3,406), Dumfries and Galloway, SW Scotland, at the head of the Dee estuary. It has granaries and creameries and is a market town and artists' colony. There are traces of an ancient wall and moat and of a McClellan clan castle (1582).

Kirkcudbright

 

(also Kurcudbrightshire), a county in Great Britain, in Scotland. Area, 2,300 sq km; population, 27,600 (1970). The administrative center is the city of Kirkcudbright.
