Koksovyi

 

an urban-type settlement in Rostov Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Severskii Donets River 12 km west of the city of Belaia Kalitva, with which it is linked by bus. It is connected by a railroad branch line with the Likhaia-Volgograd line. Population, 14,000 (1970). Koksovyi arose in 1932 in connection with the exploitation of coal deposits in the southeastern part of Donbas. Coal is mined in the vicinity. Koksovyi also has a bristle factory and a stone quarry.
