Korba

 

a mining and industrial center in India, in the state of Madhya Pradesh. With the help of the USSR, a steam power plant with a capacity of approximately 300,000 kilowatts was built in Korba in 1968; it supplies energy to the metallurgical combine in Bhilai. A state aluminum combine was under construction in 1973. Korba has coal mines and mechanical shops that repair mining equipment.
