Krk(kûrk), Ital. Veglia, island, 157 sq mi (407 sq km), in the Adriatic, off the Dalmatian coast, NW Croatia. The largest of Croatia's islands in the Adriatic, it has several small seaside resorts and an airport. The chief town, Krk, has retained its medieval walls and castle and has a 13th-century Roman Catholic cathedral. The island is connected to the mainland by a noted concrete double-arch bridge.

Karst is developed. The climate is Mediterranean. Vegetation includes evergreen shrubs and pine and oak forests, grapevines and olive and citrus trees are cultivated. There is fishing. The main city is the city of Krk, which is also a seaside health resort.
