Kupino

 

a city, the administrative center of Kupino Raion, Novosibirsk Oblast, RSFSR. Located south of Lake Chany, Kupino has a railroad station on the Tatarskaia-Malinovoe Ozero line, 581 km west of Novosibirsk. Population, 21,000 (1970). It has food industry (including a milk-canning plant, a meat combine, and a fish factory) and a machine plant. The city arose in 1886, becoming a city in 1944.
