Lüderitz

 

a city and port in Namibia (South West Africa), on the Atlantic coast. Population, 7,700 (1968). A railroad connects Lüderitz with Windhoek, the administrative center of Namibia, and with the Republic of South Africa. Lüderitz is the center of a diamond-mining region. Fish are caught and canned and small ships are built there.
