Labrouste, Pierre Henri(1801–1875)
French architect whose reputation rests on the Bibliothèque Ste. Genevieve, Paris (1838), in which an iron structure was slotted into a masonry cage. The reading room of the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, employed the same exposed iron-and-glass interior (1854).
