On the eastern border of OK, east of McAlester; organized Nov 16, 1907 from Choctaw lands. Name Origin: For Greenwood LeFlore (1800-65), leader of a prominent Choctaw family of French ancestry, a landowner, and MS state legislator. He remained in MS when most of the tribe were moved to OK
