Lenger

 

a city (since 1945) in Chimkent Oblast, Kazakh SSR; situated in the foothills of the Ugam Range. Terminus of a railroad branch line from Chimkent. Population, 22,000 (1970). Lenger has a ceramic-brick plant, a reinforced-concrete plant, a garment factory, and a knitted-stocking factory. There is a medical school in the city. Brown coal is mined near Lenger.
