The omnipotence of the mean is liberally satirized in Mark Zakharov's Wise Man, based on Aleksandr Ostrovsky's play, which recently premiered at the Lenin Komsomol Theater. Ostrovsky's text was directed at the chaos and resistance that greeted the emancipation of the serfs in 1861.
