Location:35 miles south of Rochester, along the Genesee River; Exit 7 off I-390.
Facilities:Tent and trailer campsites (é)), showers (é), winterized cabins (é), vacation rental lodge, inn, restaurant (open to the public), conference center, picnic areas and pavilions (é), playground, hiking trails (66 miles), nature trail (é), trails for horseback riding, biking, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling, swimming pool (é), visitor center/museum, gift shop.
Activities:Camping, kayaking, whitewater rafting, hot air ballooning, fishing, swimming, hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, ice skating, snow tubing, snowmobiling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, nature, history, and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series. Deer and spring turkey hunting permitted in season.
Special Features:Park is sometimes referred to as the "Grand Canyon of the East." Features include the Genesee River, which roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs as high as 600 feet, scenic trails, and lush forests. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn, a hotel built in 1914, offers overnight accommodations and is open to the public for meals.
