Lieb, (Frederick George) Fred

(1888–1980) sportswriter; born in Philadelphia. A foremost sportswriter for over 50 years, he covered baseball for the New York Press beginning in 1911 and wrote articles for the Sporting News beginning in 1935. Author of nine books on baseball, he held Card No. 1 in the Baseball Writers Association of America.
