Lindsay, Robert Bruce
(1900–85) physicist; born in New Bedford, Mass. He taught at Yale (1923–30) before joining Brown (1930–71). A specialist in acoustics (particularly underwater sound), he was a prodigious writer of textbooks, encyclopedia articles, and historical and philosophical analyses of science.The Cambridge Dictionary of American Biography, by John S.
