Litaratura I Mastatstva

 

(Literature and Art), a weekly literary and sociopolitical newspaper; the organ of the Ministry of Culture and the board of directors the Writers’ Union of the Byelorussian SSR. Published in Minsk in Byelorussian since 1932. Publication was suspended during the Great Patriotic War (1941–45) and resumed in 1945.

Litaratura i mastatstva illuminates issues of the republic’s sociopolitical and cultural life. It publishes materials relating to the development of Byelorussian literature, film, and fine arts, as well as to the cultural life of the USSR and foreign countries.
