Lithobiomorpha

[‚lith·ō‚bī·ə′mȯr‚fə]
(invertebrate zoology)
An order of chilopods in the subclass Pleurostigmophora; members are anamorphic and have 15 leg-bearing trunk segments, and when eyes are present, they are ocellar.

Lithobiomorpha

an order of arthropods of the class Chilopoda. They are similar to Scolopendromorpha except for their 15 pairs of legs. Their development is anamorphic (the larva hatches from the egg with the incomplete number of segments). The animals live in the forest litter, in rotten wood, under rocks, or in the remains of meadow or steppe herbaceous plants. They feed on small insects. The species Lithobius forficatus, which measures up to 32 mm long, is widely distributed.

For example, only about 30 of the approximately 2,500 known species of centipede (chilopods) are troglobionts, almost all are stone centipedes (Lithobiomorpha), and most live in the Pyrenees, in Sardinia, or in the karst areas of the Dinaric Alps.
