Loire-Atlantique is an important industrial port region (Nantes-St. Nazaire). There is shipbuilding, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, aircraft industry, and the manufacture of chemical and food products. Loire-Atlantique is a major region for the cultivation of cereal crops.
